Hello all, Lecoqadoodledo here! Just like pretty much all the other Painters here, I too have been riding the Shadespire train. I fell in love with the Stormcast sculpts when they were initially revealed, and knew I had to paint them as soon as possible. I finished these up late November, and they have been solidly average in the two tournaments I’ve taken them to. I thought painted miniatures were meant to roll better!

As I wanted to start gaming with them as soon as possible, I decided to aim for a very straightforward scheme and relatively quick standard. I decided to stick with the box art and go with the Hammers of Sigmar Stormhost. I did however want them to be just a tiny bit fancy, so I made sure to spend extra time on the hammers and sword, any blue areas, and Severin Steelhearts face. I decided on having the weapons wreathed in lightning after seeing how well it worked on pieces like Darren Latham’s Lord-Celestant, and Paul Norton’s Iron Raven Primaris Marines.

Despite being the main colour, the gold was quite simple to achieve and the quickest part of the model. After the miniature was primed Chaos Black, I did a light spray of Retributor Armour. This was to ensure that the first basecoat of Retributor Armour by brush would cover in one coat. After that, I washed all the gold areas in Reikland Fleshshade, followed by a focussed recess wash of 1:1 Reikland Fleshshade and Doombull Brown. I then layered all of the armour, avoiding the recesses with Auric Armour Gold, to re-establish the richness of the gold. Next up was the highlighting which began with a chunky highlight of Liberator Gold and then a fine edge highlight of Stormhost Silver.

I hope you all enjoy these pieces, and that you’re all having as much of a blast with Shadespire as I am!
